Softball:
Ayala will win another Palomares League championship.
But Bonita will enter the playoffs on a high note.
After a pair of Palomares League losses to the reigning champions, the Bearcats finally got over on the Bulldogs.
BHS scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim a 7-0 victory over AHS.
Kaitlyn Maaske tossed a six-hit shutout.
Maaske walked two and she struck out three Ayala batters.
Marisa Dominguez singled and doubled.
Jordyn Balingit, Isol Lopez, Jasmine Peralez, and Taelor Walker singled for the first-place Bulldogs.
Allie Lukaszewicsz went five innings, and she allowed four runs on four hits.
She issued four walks and struck out five BHS batters.
Lilanna Acosta was charged with three runs on three hits over one inning.
Ryan Torres walked, had a pair of doubles, scored and drove in two
Madi Arzate singled, doubled, scored and had two RBIs.
Camryn Van Valkenburgh walked, singled, scored and drove in one.
Leah Reynolds walked, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Serenity Reyes doubled, and Sofia Ortiz had a single.
Kiana Crawford and Mia Guerrero singled and scored one run apiece.
Skyy Hicks walked and drove in a run on a sac fly.

Bonita coach, Darren Baumunk: “This week was playoff atmosphere softball. The game on Monday, which ended 2-1 Ayala, could have gone either way. We had two chances to tie and take the lead and we didn’t capitalize. Today’s game was 0-0 going to the bottom of the sixth, and in the bottom of the sixth, we just started clicking and scored seven runs. It was just a great atmosphere. I am so proud of our team for competing and showing up with a lot of energy this week. I am so happy for them.”
