Softball:
Bonita ended week nine of the 2024 softball season with a 10-0 victory at Colony.
Kaitlyn Maaske went five scoreless innings to earn the win.
Maaske allowed one hit and got 10 of her 15 outs via strikeout.
Serenity Reyes and Skyler Lee provided one scoreless inning apiece, and Reyes actually struck out the side.
Koa Puppe went 2-for-4, including an HR, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Ryan Torres walked, had three hits, scored and drove in one.
Camryn Van Valkenburgh went 3-for-4, with a double and three runs scored.
Avery Rubalcava had two hits a pair of RBIs.
Isabella Aviles broke up the perfect game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a single.
Bonita enters the final stretch with five games in the next nine days.
The Bearcats have a lock on securing the Palomares League’s No. 2 seed.
BHS (8-2 in league) trails first-place Ayala (10-0) by two games.
The Bulldogs defeated the Bearcats, 10-4, on March 8th.
It would be a longshot to overtake AHS, but two of their final five games feature head-to-head showdowns with the reigning Palomares League champions.
