Baseball:
Bonita scored four runs in the top of the first inning at Ayala, and Jack Rudometkin and Corbin Duffield made sure that held up in a 4-3 victory.
The win secures the three-game Palomares League series over the Bulldogs, 2-1.
Rudometkin went 5 1/3 innings, and he surrendered three runs on six hits.
He walked one and struck out four Ayala batters.
Duffield went a perfect 1 2/3 innings in relief, including one strikeout.
Caleb Trugman singled, doubled and scored.
Jaden Valenzuela had an RBI single and one double.
Dylan Wood had an RBI single, and an RBI ground out.
Elijah Duarte walked and scored two runs.
Aidan Erlandsen doubled.
Jeremy Byers got the loss after allowing four runs on five hits over his six innings.
Byers walked one and struck out three BHS batters.
Jared Brunk’s three-run HR in the top of the first gave Bonita a 4-0 lead.
Diego Villa had an RBI single in the first to get the Bearcats on the board.
Austin Owens and Andrew Alva singled and scored one run apiece.
Colton Perez walked and singled and Spencer Savage had one base hit in Friday’s win.
Bonita finds itself in a very favorable position.
With six games to play, they lead Colony by two games, and the Bearcats already secured a three-game sweep of the Titans in the first week of Palomares League play.
And BHS is four-games up on Claremont and Ayala.
They face the Wolfpack next week for a three-game set.
Claremont was swept by Colony this past week by a combined margin of 30-14.
Bonita will close out the regular season in two weeks, as they battle last-place Glendora.
