Gianna Messick Goes Distance in Glendora’s 5-2 Palomares League Victory Over Bonita; Cabuena & Lusk Drive in Two Runs Apiece

Softball:

Glendora secured arguably its biggest win of the 2024 season on Wednesday.

The Tartans defeated a Bonita program that is ranked 35th in the state by MaxPreps.

GHS took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth, and they held on for a 5-2 victory.

Gianna Messick went the distance, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks.

Skyy Hicks went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Madi Arzate and Audrey Garza had one double each.

Camryn Van Valkenburgh singled and scored.

Leah Reynolds walked and scored.

Mia Guerrero and Koa Puppe had one single apiece for the Bearcats.

Koa Puppe was charged with four runs (two earned) on five hits over four innings.

Puppe walked one and fanned one GHS batter.

Kaitlyn Maaske went two innings, and she allowed one run on one hit.

Maaske didn’t issue a walk, and she registered two strikeouts.

Ayva Cabuena went 2-for-3, with three runs and two RBIs.

Kaylie Winovitch singled twice and had one RBI.

Elizabeth Lusk went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Samantha Meyer walked and scored.

Kennedy Bowers singled for GHS.

Up next: GHS and BHS will both be in action on Friday.

The Tartans host first-place Ayala, and the Bearcats travel to Colony.
