Bonita Survives Late Bishop Amat Rally to Secure a 7-6 Nonleague Victory; Lee & Puppe Drove in Two Runs Apiece

Softball:

Bonita edged Bishop Amat, 7-6, on Wednesday.

But the game featured late-inning drama.

BHS led 7-2 as the game headed to the top of the sixth inning.

To their credit, the Lancers scored three times in the sixth and got one more in the seventh inning.

Kaitlyn Maaske, however, was able to get the final out to secure the win.

Samantha Garcia was charged with the loss after going 1 1/3 innings and allowing four unearned runs on three hits and three walks.

Leah Reynolds drew a pair of walks, doubled and scored two runs.

Skyler Lee singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Camryn Valkenburgh walked, singled twice and scored.

Koa Puppe went 2-for-3, with two RBIs.

Madi Arzate singled and scored.

Mia Guerrero singled, scored and had one RBI.

Serenity Reyes went 2-for-4, and Sophia Ortiz had one single in the win.

Koa Puppe earned the win, as she went four innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits.

Puppe walked one and fanned three Amat batters.

The Lancers got to Kaitlyn Maaske for four runs on seven hits in three innings of work.

Maaske issued one walked and struck out three.

Anaiyah Jimenez went 3-for-3, including a double.

Aiyana Perez doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Julyssa Jimenez singled and scored three runs.

Sophia Pinedo went 2-for-4, with two RBIs.

Makenna Ramos singled, scored and had one RBI.

Up next: The Bearcats travel to Claremont on Friday at 3:30.
