Upland opened the Baseline League portion of its schedule with a 4-2 victory at Damien.
Dylan Webb went the distance on 111 pitches, and he allowed a pair of unearned runs on two hits.
Webb walked three and struck out nine Damien batters.
Julian Hines singled and scored.
Nikko Paoletto walked and scored.
JT Lovato and Jaden Kidder both had singled for the Spartans.
Andrew Carter went 4 1/3 innings for Damien, and he allowed one run on five hits.
Carter didn’t issue a walk and he struck out five UHS batters.
Upland got to Gage Wiese for two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk over 2/3 of an inning.
Jayden Avina was charged with an unearned run on one hit, and he struck out one.
Andrew Torres went a scoreless and hitless inning for the Spartans.
Torres walked two and fanned one Upland batter.
Carlos Arteaga went 2-for-4, including an RBI single in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.
An error on that same play allowed Martin Hernandez to score.
Hernandez also walked and singled.
Josh Angely went 2-for-2, walked and scored one run.
Brody Morgan walked, singled twice and had one RBI.
Noah Garbick singled and scored.
