South Hills Trounces Rowland, 15-0, in Hacienda League Opener; Diego Villarreal Goes 3-for-4 w/Four RBIs

South Hills opened defense of its Hacienda League championship by mauling Rowland, 15-0, on Tuesday.

SHHS out-hit RHS, 10-2.

Justin Romero went four scoreless, and allowed two hits, walked one and fanned five Rowland batters.

Andrew Lulet, Matt Manzo and Aiden Morales provided one scoreless inning apiece, and they combined to strike out five.

The Huskies pitching staff combined to strike out eight separate Rowland batters on Tuesday.

Kyle Tamura and David Garcia had one hit apiece to account for the Raiders offense.

Derek Salazar was roughed up for eight runs (six earned) on five hits over four innings.

Salazar issued four walks and fanned one SHHS batter.

Freshman Diego Villarreal went 3-for-4, with three runs and four RBIs.

Matt Manzo doubled and drove in three runs.

Steven Jimenez walked, doubled, scored twice and had one RBI.

Noah Malone drew a pair of walks, singled and scored two runs.

Carson Baker walked, singled and scored.

Andrew Lulet walked twice, had an RBI, and scored two runs.

Jacob Chavez singled, scored and had one RBI.

Aiden Soto walked, had one RBI and scored a pair of runs.

Frank Morales had an RBI double, and Sebastian Morinaga singled and scored.

Up next: The Huskies will earn the two-game sweep on Thursday at Rowland.
