South Hills Edges California, 2-1, to Secure Bonita Tournament Title; Parker Milton Went Distance for Huskies

Softball:

What a solid start to the 2024 season.

South Hills went 4-0 at the Bonita Tournament, including Friday’s 2-1 victory over California in the title game.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Huskies scored two runs, and Parker Milton did the rest.

Milton went the distance, allowing one run on five hits.

She walked one and fanned four Cal-High batters.

Ashley Hernandez doubled in Shiann Gil in the top of the fifth inning to give the Condors a 1-0 lead.

Gil went 2-for-3.

Mia Martinez and Jessica Gurule both singled for California.

Pricilla Ramirez was saddled the loss.

She went six innings and was charged with two runs (one earned) on three hits.

Ramirez issued four walks and struck out 10 South Hills batters.

Kayla Sigala had an RBI double for the Huskies.

Madilyn Hernandez singled and scored.

Joie Economides singled, and Faith Hernandez reached base on an error and scored.

Sophia Sanchez walked and had an RBI.

South Hills defeated Northview (4-0), La Canada (10-2) and Capistrano Valley (11-3) to earn a spot in the title game.
