Boys Soccer:

For most people, driving 79 miles in the rain would be a miserable experience.

For the Marshall Fundamental boys soccer program, it was tolerable at worst, and pleasant at best.

That’s because the Eagles claimed at 3-0 win in the wild card round of the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs.

Marshall led 2-0 at the half, and the Eagles defense and goalie Rayshon Robert kept San Jacinto off the scoreboard.

Joey Hernandez and Rigo Hernandez Santa Cruz both scored one goal each.

The Eagles third score came on a San Jacinto own goal.

Rayshon Robert had seven saves in the first half, and three crucial saves in the second to finish with 10.

There was a strong defensive effort led by Ryan Dominguez.

Up next: The Eagles will travel 113 miles to Rancho Mirage on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rattlers (10-4-4) were the Desert Empire League champions.
