La Canada looked to spoil Maranatha’s home opener on Tuesday.

The Spartans scored twice to take a 2-0 lead.

LCHS would go to the break with a 3-1 advantage.

Maranatha’s only score in the first half was a header from freshman Caleb Freeman off Sawyer Throop’s free kick.

Maranatha, though, would outscore La Canada, 2-0, in the second half, and forced a 3-3 tie.

MHS struck early in the second half, as Luca Youssefian converted a penalty kick.

Aren Tatevossian scored from distance to even the game at 3-3.

Maranatha keeper Lorenzo Rodriguez saved a penalty kick to keep the score tied.

Rodriguez had six saves in goal.
