West Covina & Covina Tied 9-9 in a Valle Vista League Showdown, But the Bulldogs Won on Games, 71-69

It doesn’t get much closer than this.

West Covina battled Covina in a Valle Vista League girls tennis match that ended in a 9-9 tie.

The Lady Bulldogs, however, would get the victory thanks to a 71-69 advantage in games.

West Covina got six of their nine team points from its three singles players.

Ferria Xu went 3-0 and claimed those three matches by scores of 6-3, 6-1 and 6-0.

Julia Renteria went 2-1 and Jenny Tang earned one team point for WCHS.

The No. 1 doubles team of Alyssa Ing and Megan Ly went 2-1.

After a 4-6 loss in round one versus the Colts’ No. 1 tandem, Ing and Ly won their final two matches by scores of 6-0 and 6-0.

West Covina’s No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams went a combined 1-5.

The lone victory was at No. 3, as Abby Pastrana and Aliana Sandoval won one of their three matches by a score of 6-3.
