Girls Volleyball:
Marshall Fundamental is heading into the CIF-SS playoffs with some momentum.
The Lady Eagles met up with their visitors from Mountain View, and the winner of Wednesday’s match would secure third place in the Mission Valley League standings.
And while it was anything but a smooth ride, Marshall persevered and claimed a five-set victory.
The Eagles trailed 0-1 and 1-2, but rallied to edge the Vikings in five.
Marshall won by scores of 25-23, 13-25, 11-25, 26-24 and 15-8.
Eve Mkhitarian led the way with 11 kills, 15 digs and four aces.
Alexis Delgado came up big, and finished with nine kills, 14 digs and one ace.
Ava Desiongco added 18 assists and 16 digs in the win.
Naomi Taylor provided five kills and three digs.
And Liv Teems had three kills and three digs.
Up next: The Eagles will get their first-round opponent in the CIF-SS playoffs on Saturday morning at 10.
