Football:
Make it five in a row.
Bonita remained unscathed in 2023 after Friday’s 28-14 victory at Los Osos.
The Bearcats led 20-0 before the Grizzlies scored a pair of second-quarter TD’s.
As mentioned, LOHS would pull to within 20-14, but Daniel Mielke’s third TD pass of the night put the game on ice.
Mielke hit Ryder Cadam on a 75-yard TD in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead.
Cole Parra rumbled in from two yards out, and Mielke found Dylan Robinson on an 18-yard TD pass to extend the BHS advantage to 20-0 in the second quarter.
Los Osos quarterback Mason Overacker got LOHS on the board with his 7-yard TD run, and then Nicholas Martinez scored on a 13-yard run.
Bo Beatty’s defense, however, made some adjustments at the break, and BHS was able to shut the Grizzlies out in the second half to secure win number five.
Noah Mikhail’s 26-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter capped the Bonita scoring on Friday.
Mielke completed 16-of-22 for 224 yards and three TD’s.
Los Osos was able to pick the freshman once last night.
Jayden Montenegro was actually kept out of the end zone (except for a 2-point conversion), but the Bonita senior still had a game-high 110 yards rushing on seven carries.
Parra, also a member of Rob Froh’s wrestling program, had a solid night with 70 yards rushing on 11 carries, and that included a first-quarter TD run.
Cadam caught two passes for 105 yards and the one score.
Mikhail had five receptions for 46 yards.
Montenegro caught five passes for 40 yards.
Up next: LOHS heads to Alta Loma on Friday.
The Braves won their first game of 2023, a 34-14 victory at Claremont.
BHS will enjoy its bye week, and then host Northview (4-1) on Thursday, September 28th.
