Bridget Nemeth Tosses Four-Hit Shutout & Strikes Out Nine in Glendora’s 1-0 Victory at Millikan in First Round of D-2 Playoffs

Softball:

The 40-mile bus ride home from Long Beach was a pleasant one for the Glendora softball program.

The Tartans edged Millikan, 1-0, in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoff.

Bridget Nemeth continued her elite play, tossing a four-hit shutout.

Nemeth didn’t issue a walk and struck out nine Rams.

Emily Haniff, Katie Knarr, Ari Ramirez and Madison Wright had one hit apiece for the Moore League champions.

Victoria Byrum got the loss after allowing one sixth inning run and one hit.

Byrum walked four and struck out 12 GHS batters.

Makenna Coleman led off the top of the sixth inning by drawing a base on balls.

Allison Waite was able to advance the runner with a sac bunt.

Liliana Hawker came out to pinch run from Coleman, and she stole home for the game’s only run.

Samantha Meyer’s double was the Tartans lone hit on Thursday.

Up next: GHS will host the Valencia-Tesoro game this coming Tuesday.
