Softball:
The final softball game at Alverno Heights Academy is now in the history books.
Grace Brethren handed the Jaguars a 9-2 loss in a CIF-SS Division 5 wild card game.
The Lancers got three runs in the top of the first inning and four more in the sixth to pull away.
Rosy Salazar went the distance and allowed two runs on six hits.
Salazar issued three walks and struck out eight.
Trinity Godson walked, doubled and scored.
Alyssa Marquez went 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Destinee Kaya singled and doubled for AHA.
Andrea Mercado singled.
Bryanna Marquez walked twice and was hit by pitch.
Kaeley Aldana had one RBI.
Adrianna Russom went 6 1/3 innings and surrendered eight runs (four earned) on 13 hits.
Russom walked one and fanned a pair of Grace Brethren batters.
Taylor Smith went 4-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Madi Wall also had four hits, including a triple, three runs and two RBIs.
Grace Maguire walked, singled twice, scored and had one RBI.
Marina Markrud singled, scored and drove in a pair.
Maddy Kenny had an RBI base hit.
Salazar helped her own cause with a double and she scored one run.
Cameron Kenny and Lexi Bower singled and scored one run apiece.
Due to some mismanagement, according to many, the school will shut its doors at the end of the year.
Many players are moving on to private schools like La Salle and FSHA.
