Softball:

Neither pitcher deserved to lose, but someone had to.

After eight innings of both Bonita’s Brooklyn Shroyer and Glendora’s Bridget Nemeth shutting out the other’s offense, Bonita got three runs in the top of the ninth and claimed a 3-0 victory at GHS.

The win also secured second place in the Palomares League for the Bearcats.

Shroyer went nine scoreless, and she allowed five hits.

The BHS senior walked two and struck out 10.

Allison Salgado and Kaylie Winovitch doubled for GHS.

Liliana Hawker, Makenna Coleman and Ryan Speh had one single apiece for the Tartans.

Nemeth went nine innings and surrendered three runs (two earned) on eight hits.

The GHS senior issued two walks and fanned 10 BHS batters.

Aries Alonso’s three-run HR in the top of the ninth was the difference.

Mireya Rico singled twice and scored.

Alyssa Doucette had a pair of singles.

Bryce Shroyer doubled twice for the defending champs.

And Serenity Reyes doubled.

Up next: Bonita and Glendora will both be in action on Thursday.

The Tartans travel to Ayala and the Bearcats host Colony in the regular season finale for both programs.
