Softball:
It would be difficult to dominate a doubleheader quite like Bridget Nemeth did on Saturday.
Nemeth led the Tartans to 8-0 and 3-1 Palomares League victories over Claremont.
It took nine innings in the second game to complete the sweep.
And in the process, the Tartans find themselves just one-game back of second-place Bonita as they head into the final week of the 2023 season.
Game One:
Bridget Nemeth went five scoreless innings and allowed just two hits.
Nemeth walked one and struck out eight.
Corinne Kempton singled and doubled and Sara Cornell doubled.
Kacie Gossett surrendered eight runs (seven earned) on 12 hits.
She issued four walks and fanned six.
At the plate, Nemeth went 2-for-4 with five RBIs.
Makenna Coleman walked, singled twice, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Kaylie Winovitch walked twice, had two singles and an RBI.
Kylie Coleman singled twice and scored.
Amelie Arroyo doubled and scored.
Game Two:
Nemeth nine innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits.
Nemeth walked one and struck out 16.
Alyssa Valdez had half of the Wolfpack’s four hits.
Samantha Carreon walked and scored.
Nathalia Chavez surrendered three runs on eight hits.
She issued four walks and fanned four GHS batters.
Winovitch went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Ayva Cabuena and Morgan Gonzalez singled and scored one run apiece.
Gianna Messick had a pair of singles.
