Softball:

With seven games remaining in the regular season, Bonita is now two back of Ayala in the Palomares League’s loss column.

On Monday, Brooklyn Shroyer shut down the Alta Loma offense in a 2-0 league victory.

Shroyer allowed singles to Alyssa Pulicari and Ava Salazar.

But that was all the Braves’ bats could muster.

Shroyer didn’t issue a walk and got 15 of her 21 outs via strikeouts.

Of her 81 pitches, 69 went for strikes.

Donica Meyndert was stuck with the loss.

Meyndert went all six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits.

She didn’t issue a walk and struck out seven.

Alyssa Doucette singled in a run in the bottom of the third inning to give BHS a 1-0 lead.

Camryn Van Valkenburgh would score on an Audrey Garza bunt to extend the Bearcats advantage to 2-0.

And that’s more than Shroyer would need.

Avery Bowers had two of Bonita’s five hits.

Mireya Rico and Van Valkenburgh would both single and score.

Serenity Reyes singled for the defending CIF D-3 champs.

Up next: The Bearcats travel to Colony today (Tuesday) at 3:30.
