Girls Volleyball:

Marshall Fundamental improved to 13-5 overall and 5-1 in Mission Valley League matches after picking up a three-game sweep at Mountain View.

The Eagles won by scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 26-24.

The girls from Pasadena have already claimed 10 more victories through the first 18 matches in 2022 than in all of 2021.

Lauren Sandoval continues to play well and had 16 assists and four aces.

Journey Blueford chipped in with six kills and five blocks.

Alexis Delgado contributed a match-high 10 kills to go with her two aces.

Rory Lorenz finished with three kills and a pair of blocks.

Although not in the box score, Evelyn Mkhitarian was solid for the Eagles in the back row.

She has, according to head coach Jeffrey Thai, “been our most consistent passer in the past three matches.”

Up next: The Eagles travel to South El Monte on Wednesday at 3:30.

Quotable:

Marshall Fundamental coach, Jeffrey Thai: “All of our players are getting used to having different teammates on the floor with them as we work to assimilate other players into our rotation. Energy was at a good level, but if we want to really make a push for top spot in the league, we really need to play each game at a higher intensity. We know we can do more and be more and will have to kick it into high gear against our next opponent.”
