Softball:

Bonita got two runs in both the second and sixth innings and let Brooklyn Shroyer do the rest.

The Bearcats earned a spot in next weekend’s CIF-SS Division 3 championship game after a 4-1 victory at Temescal Canyon.

Shroyer went the distance and allowed one run on seven hits.

Shroyer walked one and struck out 10 to earn the win.

Hailey Garcia doubled and had the Titans lone RBI of the game in the third inning to pull within 2-1 of Bonita.

But that’s as close as they’d get.

Marissa Sanchez and Gisele Gonzalez also doubled for Temescal Canyon.

Sanchez would get the loss, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits.

Sanchez went 6 1/3 innings, didn’t issue a walk and struck out one BHS batter.

Aries Alonso had a huge game, with a single, double and three RBIs.

Kailey Scott singled twice and scored for the Bearcats.

Mireya Rico singled, scored and had one RBI.

Bryce Shroyer singled and both Audrey Garza and Camryn VanValkenburgh scored one run each in Saturday’s road victory.

Up next: The Bearcats will face the winner of this Monday’s showdown between Tesoro and St. Anthony.

The championship game will either be played next Friday or Saturday at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine.

Once CIF decides the exact day and time, we will post an update.
