Softball:
Bonita was just a few outs away from their 2022 season being over.
The Bearcats trailed Sunny Hills, 1-0, in the quarterfinal round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs.
With one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, Breanna Orosco drew a walk.
And Alyssa Doucette became the hero.
Doucette hit a two-run shot and the Bearcats would hold on for a 2-1 victory.
Sunny Hills got a first-inning double and two singles to take a 1-0 lead.
Brooklyn Shroyer, however, would retire 21 of the next 24 batters and did not allow a hit after the first inning.
Bonita had three hits in Thursday’s win, including a single from Kailey Scott and Lauryn Ureno’s double.
Up next: The Bearcats will travel to Temescal Canyon on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans (22-5) defeated Heritage, 6-5, in their quarterfinal round game.
