Softball:

It literally doesn’t get any better than this.

Bonita pitcher Brooklyn Shroyer threw a perfect game in Tuesday’s 5-0 victory at Kennedy.

Shroyer got 12 of her 21 outs via strikeout in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs.

Offensively, she got help from her twin.

Bryce Shroyer hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning.

Mireya Rico singled twice, doubled and scored two runs.

Sofia Ortiz had two RBIs.

Lauryn Ureno singled and scored.

Alyssa Doucette singled and Camryn VanValkenburgh scored once for the Bearcats.

Up next: The Bearcats will host Sunny Hills on Thursday.

The Lancers (17-9-2) edged Capistrano Valley, 1-0, on Tuesday.

Quotable

Bonita coach, Darren Baumunk: “I’m just so happy for Brooklyn. She has worked so hard this year on hitting her spots and not thinking too hard. Yesterday, she was spot on. Her screw ball, curve ball and riser were so effective right from the first inning and the defense behind her has been very solid. We keep preaching to the team that our defense has to show up every day and it has. Again, so happy for not only Brooklyn, but the whole team effort and intensity!”
