Tatiana Foor Shuts Out La Quinta, 10-0, & Strikes Out 11; Kares Open D-5 Playoffs w/Six-Inning Mercy-Rule Victory

Softball:

Rio Hondo Prep opened the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs in impressive form.

The Kares claimed a 10-0, mercy-rule victory over visiting La Quinta of Westminster in six innings.

Tatiana Foor silenced the Aztecs bats throughout Thursday’s win.

Foor allowed two hits, walked one and struck out 11 La Quinta batters.

Of her 81 pitches, 59 were strikes.

Ally Guzman went five innings for La Quinta and allowed seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits.

Guzman walked two and struck out six RHP batters.

Raegan Johnson singled, doubled, homered and drove in a pair of runs.

Grace Pollock walked, doubled and scored a pair of runs.

Foor helped her own cause with a walk, two singles and the Kares senior scored three runs.

Madison Metz doubled, scored and had two RBIs.

Elle Curtis walked twice and scored.

Raychel Chang walked, singled and scored.

And Avery Pollock doubled, scored and had one RBI in Thursday’s win.

Up next: The Kares will host top-seeded Fountain Valley on Tuesday.

The Barons (21-4-1) defeated Barstow, 11-2, in their first-round contest.
