Brooklyn Shroyer Retires 20 of Final 21 Batters in Bonita’s 4-2 Victory at Ayala; Bearcats Hold 2-Game Lead w/4 to Play

Softball:

Bonita took a huge step towards an outright Palomares League championship.

The Bearcats picked up a 4-2 victory at Ayala, and Alta Loma thumped Glendora, 11-2.

The results of both games give the Bearcats a two-game lead with four to play.

After surrendering two first-inning runs, Bonita junior Brooklyn Shroyer retired 20 of the last 21 batters in Tuesdays’s win.

Shroyer allowed two runs on three hits and struck out a pair of Ayala batters.

Sofia Ortiz and Alyssa Doucette singled and scored one run apiece.

Mireya Rico singled twice and scored.

Lauryn Ureno drove in two runs and Aries Alonso scored once.

Hailey Marquez doubled and Bryce Shroyer singled.

Up next: Bonita travels to Claremont on Thursday.
