Last Place Providence Hands Flintridge Prep its First Prep League Loss; Pioneers Defeat Wolves, 10-8, on Tuesday

As I’ve said many times, the sport of baseball can be exhilarating and sometimes it can offer up a massive kick in the groin.

And Flintridge Prep experienced that on Tuesday.

The Wolves, who were 5-0 in Prep League play, and had won 11 of their last 12 games, fell at last-place Providence, 10-8.

The Pioneers entered the game 0-6 in league, and they were coming off a 13-12 loss to Rio Hondo Prep, after the Kares scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Freshman Sutton Frost went 6 2/3 innings to get the win.

Sutton surrendered seven runs (five earned) on three hits.

He walked seven and struck out three.

JR Kully walked twice, singled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Dominick Schraeder singled, scored and had an RBI.

Max Brunngraber walked, singled twice and had two RBIs.

Nathan Park walked twice and scored, and both Will Koh and Josh Beserra walked once and scored one run apiece.

Spencer Seid walked and scored two runs.

Beserra got the loss.

He went four innings and allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits.

Beserra walked three and fanned five Providence batters.

Connor Cafferty walked, singled twice and scored three runs in the win.

Nikoli Ocampo walked, singled and scored two runs.

Adrian Contreras and Ian Didzsun singled and scored.

Up next: The Wolves and Pioneers meet up Thursday at the Glendale Sports Complex.
