You know things are going your way when despite mustering just four hits and committing four errors, the outcome is still favorable.
But that’s what Northview accomplished on Monday.
The Vikings defeated Portola, 3-1.
NHS has won nine consecutive games and 11 of their last 12.
Mitchell Stein got the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits over his complete-game effort.
Stein walked two and struck out seven NHS batters.
Diego Frey had half of the Vikings four hits.
Frey doubled twice and had one RBI.
Ivan Barragan singled and scored.
Nick Peoples hit a solo HR for the Vikings.
Josh Sanchez walked and scored.
Jacob Ramos went six scoreless innings to earn the win.
Ramos scattered three hits, walked one and struck out six Portola batters.
Dean Curley allowed an unearned run on one hit and two walks to close out the win and earn the save.
Rocky Palacio had two of the four Bulldogs’ hits.
Michael Shen singled and had an RBI.
Sam Sandoval singled to account for the other Portola hit.
Up next: The Vikings will battle Segerstrom (10-10) on Tuesday at 12:15.
