Softball:
After eight days off, Bonita played a couple of tournament games on Saturday.
The Bearcats enter this week in a two-way tie atop the Palomares League standings with Glendora.
And they’ll have some momentum after a 5-0 victory over West Torrance, and a 17-0 drubbing of Fairfax.
In game one, Brooklyn Shroyer went six shutout innings and allowed just three hits.
Shroyer didn’t issue a walk and fanned 12 batters.
Offensively, Kailey Scott singled and had two RBIs.
Mireya Rico doubled and scored.
Alyssa Doucette singled three times and scored.
Lauryn Ureno scored and had an RBI for the Bearcats.
Sofia Ortiz and Breanna Orosco scored one run each, and Aries Alonso had an RBI.
Shroyer singled in game one.
In game two, the Bearcats blew out Fairfax thanks to 13 hits and a brutal 10 errors by the Lions.
Bonita got seven runs off Samantha Santana and nine more from Stephany Aguirre.
Alyssa Doucette doubled, hit a grand slam, scored twice and finished with four RBIs.
Hailey Marquez homered and drove in three runs.
Sofia Ortiz singled, doubled and scored.
Kailey Scott singled and scored.
Kali Blount doubled, scored and had two RBIs.
Mireya Rico singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Breanna Orosco scored twice and had an RBI.
Rylee Powell singled, scored two runs, and had one RBI.
Lauryn Ureno singled, drove in one run and scored twice.
Caitlyn Crispo singled, scored twice and had two RBIs.
Bryce Shroyer doubled in a run.
Olivia Washington singled and scored.
Kaitlyn Maaske got the win.
Maaske went all four innings, allowed just two hits, didn’t issue a walk and fanned four Fairfax batters.
Up next: The Bearcats travel to Colony on Tuesday and host Alta Loma on Thursday.
