South Hills Secures 2-Game Sweep of Walnut After 6-2 Victory; Matt Lorenzano Improves to 6-0 on Mound for Huskies

Baseball:

South Hills took a leg up in the chase for the Hacienda League championship.

The Huskies picked up a two-game sweep of Walnut, after defeating the Mustangs, 6-2, on Thursday.

Matt Lorenzano went 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on three hits.

Lorenzano walked two and struck out five Walnut batters to earn the win.

Dylan Esquival got the last five outs without allowing a run.

Esquival walked one and fanned one batter.

Kyle Calzadiaz got the loss after allowing four runs on four hits over his 3 2/3 innings.

He walked one and struck out one.

Paul Vazquez doubled twice, scored two runs and had two RBIs.

Marcos Rosales singled, doubled and scored two runs.

Jeremiah Sibrian singled twice, scored and had an RBI.

Steven Jimenez scored and had one RBI, and Dom Prieto had an RBI.

Up next: SHHS will face Camas of Washington on Monday morning.

The first pitch is set for 10.
