Hoffstetter Goes 7 1/3 Scoreless & Wong Singles Home Huerta in 8th Inning to Lead Arcadia to 1-0 Victory at Burroughs

For the second time in the last two Pacific League games, the Burroughs’ bats have been put on silent.

On Friday, Pasadena claimed a 3-0 victory in eight innings.

Fast forward to Wednesday night, and Arcadia’s Ian Hoffstetter and Gabriel Lopez teamed up on the mound in a 1-0 victory at Burroughs.

And it was another eight-inning setback for the Bears.

Hoffstetter went 7 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed three hits to get the win.

Hoffstetter walked three and struck out six Burroughs batters.

Lopez came in and got the last two outs to earn the save.

Lopez walked one, but closed out the win by striking out Bailey Ewan looking.

Gunnar Nichols pitched his butt off, but the Bears senior was stuck with the loss.

Nichols went 7 1/3 innings of his own, allowing one run on three hits.

Nichols walked three and 12 of his 22 outs via strikeout.

He gave up an eighth-inning single to Zach Huerta and Devan McGivern came in with the game tied at 0-0 and one out.

Lance Wong singled off McGivern to score Huerta with what turned out to be the game winner.

Alex Dolan and Jack Esguerra had one single apiece to account for the other two Apaches’ base hits.

Up next: Arcadia will host Burroughs on Friday.
