Mt. SAC Picks Up Three-Game SCC Sweep of Cerritos; First-Place Mounties Scored Three Times in Eighth to Claim 8-5 Road Victory

College Baseball:

Mt. SAC won its ninth consecutive game on Saturday.

The Mounties got three runs in the top of the eighth inning to pick up an 8-5 victory at Cerritos.

They also extended their South Coast Conference win streak to seven games, including series sweeps of Rio Hondo and Cerritos.

And MSAC currently sits atop the SCC standings.

Alec Beck got the start and allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits.

Beck went 2 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.

Trent Merrill provided 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Hunter Holmes surrendered one run on one hit and two walks over 1 1/3 innings.

Damian Torres earned the win, after 1 2/3 scoreless, allowing one hit and striking out one Cerritos batter.

Cristian Enriquez secured the win and earned the save with a perfect ninth inning.

Lucas Iorgulescu walked, singled twice, doubled and scored.

Alex Bueno singled, doubled and scored.

After getting four runs off Justin Almeda and one from Carter Stoddard, Dawson Holbrook got the loss.

Holbrook surrendered three runs (one earned) on one hit and two walks in the eighth inning.

Will Bermudez walked, singled twice and scored two runs.

Brent Cota walked, singled and scored.

Cristian Enriquez went 2-for-4, with a walk, two runs and an RBI.

CJ Ontiveros walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.

Jacob Moreno singled and had an RBI when he was hit by pitch with the bases loaded in the third inning.

Elijah Pelayo singled and scored.

Up next: The Mounties will open a three-game series at last-place LA Harbor on Tuesday.
