Baseball:
Talk about a tale of two games.
In the first of Saturday’s doubleheader, Bonita committed six errors and dropped an 8-3 decision to Chino.
But the Bearcats ended the day with a split, thanks to Justin Santiago’s effort on the mound.
Game One: Chino got to Colton Perez for seven runs (five earned) on four hits.
Perez went 3 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.
Fabian Trujillo walked, homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Cowboys.
Anthony Vargas walked, singled and scored, and Julian Ramirez singled and scored.
Jason Casasola scored twice and had an RBI.
Cameron Rodriguez singled and doubled, and Eduardo Soto walked and scored.
Robert Ornelas went six innings and allowed three runs on five hits to earn the win.
He walked three and fanned five BHS batters.
Jared Brunk singled and drove in a pair of runs for Bonita.
Bryan Bradshaw walked twice, had two singles and scored.
Game two: Justin Santiago was one hit away from throwing a perfect game.
Santiago didn’t issue a walk and struck out 11 Chino batters.
He needed just 85 pitches to finish what he started.
Jason Casasola singled to account for the Cowboys offense.
EJ Felix got the loss.
Felix went two innings, allowed six runs (three earned) on six hits.
He walked two and didn’t get a single Bearcat on strikes.
Bryan Bradshaw walked, doubled and scored two runs.
Garrett Patterson singled, doubled, scored and had three RBIs.
Luke Mistone had two singles, a double and scored once.
Seth Wrightstone walked, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Tyler Holley went 2-for-4, with three RBIs and scored once.
Adrian Lopez and Daniel Munoz singled, scored and had one RBI each.
Jared Brunk walked and singled in game two.
