Zach Strickland Goes Six Innings, Allows One Run & Strikes Out Eight in Maranatha’s 9-1 Victory Over Whittier Christian

Baseball:

Maranatha completed the three-game, Olympic League sweep of Whittier Christian on Friday.

The Minutemen defeated the Heralds, 9-1, thanks to a strong effort from Zach Strickland.

Strickland went six strong innings, allowing one run on three hits.

Strickland didn’t issue a walk and struck out eight.

Connor Green doubled and drove in a run.

John Rojas singled and scored.

Green was stuck with the loss, allowing six runs on six hits over 3 1/3 innings.

He walked three and didn’t strike anyone out.

Donovan Gonsal singled, tripled, scored and drove in three runs.

Isaac Ton doubled twice, had two RBIs and scored once.

Nick Cook singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Cider Canon singled and scored.

Mikey Ebner walked, tripled and scored twice.

Cam Andrews walked, doubled and scored two runs.

Angelo Aleman singled, scored and had one RBI.

Up next: The Minutemen host Golden Valley this morning (Saturday) at 10.

And on Tuesday, MHS resumes Olympic League play, and travel to Heritage Christian.
