Matt Lorenzano Strikes Out 10 in South Hills’ 13-2, Hacienda League Victory Over Wilson; Huskies Secure 2-Game Sweep

Baseball:

South Hills won its sixth consecutive game on Thursday.

And four of the six came in Hacienda League play.

The Huskies crushed Wilson, 13-2, to pick up the two-game sweep of the Wildcats.

South Hills, the third-ranked program in the most recent CIF-SS Division 2 poll, out-hit Wilson, 14-1.

Matt Lorenzano picked up the win after going four innings and allowing just a single run on one hit.

Lorenzano walked one and struck out 10 Wildcats batters.

Athen Malone, Dylan Esquivel and Joseph Moreno combined to go one inning of relief apiece and they teamed up to strike out six.

Paul Vasquez singled, scored three runs and had one RBI.

Andrew Ramirez singled, drove in two runs and scored.

Andres Mitat singled twice and scored.

Gilbert Morales doubled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

Luke Bauer singled and scored.

Marcos Rosales singled, tripled, scored and had two RBIs.

Shane Ingrin singled and scores for the Huskies.

Jeremiah Sibrian went 2-for-2, with an RBI and run scored.

Steven Jimenez, Dom Prieto and Gabriel Martinez singled and scored.

Up next: South Hills will host Sunny Hills on Saturday morning at 10.

And on Tuesday, the Huskies travel for the first of two with Walnut.

SHHS & WHS are both unbeaten in league play.
