The SDHS lefty went 4 2/3 innings, walked one and fanned a pair of NHS batters.

Ivan Barragan collected three singles, scored a pair of runs and had one RBI.

Diego Frey singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run.

Isaiah Cruz singled, doubled and had two RBIs.

Moses Medrano hit a solo HR for NHS.

Sal Batres got the win, after going six strong innings and allowing just one run.

Batres scattered seven hits, walked three and fanned six SDHS batters.

Curley closed out the win with a scoreless inning of relief.

Ayden Garcia singled and had the Saints lone RBI.

Robert Castillo and Tyler Pardus both had a single and double on Wednesday.

Ryder Young walked twice and doubled and Ryder Castro had a single.

Landon White scored for the defending VVL champions.

Quotable:

Northview junior, Dean Curley: “We got the lead early and kept it. My job is to see as many pitches as I can. I had a seven-pitch at-bat in the first inning so my teammates and I could see what he (Matt Romero) had to offer. We all did our part in the win. We worked on driving the ball to the right side because he lives on the outside half  of the plate. Sal Batres did what he always does. He made pitches, challenged them and let the defense make plays behind him. Today’s win was huge. It sets the tone for Friday. I was really happy that we never let up after we got the lead, and that’s something we need to do more often.”
