Baseball:
Charter Oak needed a Valle Vista League victory on Wednesday in the worst way, and boy did they get it.
Evan Avitia went the distance, allowing just an unearned run on eight hits.
Avitia walked one and struck out six Colts batters.
He finished Covina off on 86 pitches and COHS would earn a 10-1 road victory.
Ryan Perez had three of the Colts eight hits.
Isaiah Pacheco singled and scored.
Perez was stuck with the loss, after allowing four runs (two earned) on 10 hits.
Perez went 4 2/3 innngs, walked one and struck out five COHS batters.
Avitia also singled twice, doubled, scored two runs and had one RBI.
Samuel Morales had a monster game, going 4-for-5, with three doubles, a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs.
Dave Montoya singled three times, drove in one run and scored three times.
Chris Gonzalez walked, singled twice, had one RBI and scored a pair of runs.
Alek Gavaghan and Daniel Hirota both had a single and one RBI apiece.
Ezekial Escalera walked, singled, scored and drove in one run.
