Northview Finishes 2-Game VVL Sweep of WCHS w/12-1 Victory on Friday; Granados Allows One Run & One Hit Over Five Innings

Northview opened the Valle Vista League portion of their schedule with a convincing two-game sweep of West Covina.

The Vikings outscored the Bulldogs, 18-3, in the two games, including Friday’s 12-1 victory at WCHS.

Edwin Segovia got the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits over his three innings of work.

Segovia walked two and didn’t strike anyone out.

NHS got six more runs (four earned) off Kevin Jimenez over four innings.

Jimenez surrendered eight hits, walked one and struck out one Vikings’ batter.

Dean Curley went 2-for-5 from the leadoff spot.

Curley singled, doubled, had an RBI and scored twice.

Ivan Barragan singled and had an RBI.

Isaiah Cruz singled twice and scored a pair of runs.

Diego Frey singled and scored, and Nate Durazo singled, scored and drove in a run.

Nick Peoples singled, doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs.

Sal Batres walked three times, doubled and scored two runs.

Evan Burns went 4-for-4, with two RBIs and a run.

Steve Carlin singled and had an RBI.

Andrew Granados went the first five innings to get the win.

Granados allowed one run on one hit, walked one and fanned four WCHS batters.

Jacob Ramos and Dean Curley provided one scoreless inning of relief each, and Curley got two of his three outs via strikeout.

Evan Buhac singled and drove in a run for the Bulldogs.

Jacob Nguyen walked and scored, and Victor Mendoza singled to account for the rest of the West Covina offense.

Up next: WCHS and NHS will both host VVL games on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs get Diamond Ranch and the Vikings welcome SDHS.
