GHS Spots Upland a Three-Run Lead, But Tartans Rally for 4-3 Victory Over Highlanders on Saturday Morning

After beginning the week with an eight-run loss to visiting Ayala in a Palomares League showdown, the Tartans finished strong with victories over Claremont and Upland.

GHS used four pitchers in Saturday’s 4-3, nonleague victory over Upland.

Evan Ellis went the first four innings and allowed three unearned runs on one hit.

He walked two and struck out one.

John Nolan, Michael Moses and Matt Moreno each provided one scoreless inning of relief.

Moreno got the final three outs, including two via strikeout.

Joel Quemada singled and drove in two runs for UHS.

Joe O’Regan allowed three unearned runs of his own for Upland over his 4 1/3 innings of work.

He surrendered five hits, walked two and struck out three GHS batters.

Nathan Marquez went 1 2/3 innings, surrendering one run on two hits.

Troy Estrada walked, singled and scored.

Joseph Gilkeson singled, scored and had an RBI.

Ajay Rollice singled and drove in a run for the Tartans.

Brandon Kiesendahl singled, scored and had one RBI.

Moreno walked and singled and Braydon Wooldridge doubled.

Cole Fishman scored once in Saturday’s win.

Up next: Upland will host Kaiser on Wednesday and GHS travels to Alta Loma on Tuesday.
