Baseball:
It might not be your day when you score eight runs in four innings against an opposing starter and still fall short.
But that’s what happened to Bonita on Thursday.
The Bearcats roughed up Alta Loma starter Dominic Paris for eight runs on 11 hits in the first four innings.
But the Braves got three runs in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the ninth to defeat Bonita, 9-8, in a Palomares League contest.
Christian Lopez would provide 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and Jaxon Hall got the final out in the top of the seventh inning.
Luke Mistone went 3-for-4, with a double, run and three RBIs.
Tyler Holley had a pair of doubles, an RBI and scored twice.
Adrian Lopez singled, doubled and drove in a run.
Bryan Bradshaw and Garrett Patterson singled and scored one run apiece.
Daniel Munoz singled, scored and drove in a run and Seth Wrightstone doubled and scored.
Wrightstone went the first five innings for BHS, allowing four runs on six hits.
He walked one and fanned six ALHS batters.
Justin Santiago was stuck with the loss after surrendering five runs (two earned) on five hits over his 1 1/3 innings.
Santiago walked one and struck out two batters.
Ian Wolski singled, tripled, scored twice and had an RBI.
Jonathan Carrillo went 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot, with a double, two RBIs and scored once.
Seth Reker singled, doubled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Adrian Morales doubled, scored and had an RBI and Dakodah Kinsley singled and scored.
Alex Erickson had an RBI single and scored, and Tucker Kraushaar walked, scored and had an RBI.
