Loyola Wins First Mission League Series of Season, 2-0-1; Cubs Defeat Chaminade, 11-6, on Friday

Loyola got six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to defeat visiting Chaminade, 11-5, on Friday.

The Cubs opened Mission League play with two wins and a tie over the Eagles.

Chaminade got five runs in the first four innings, but Ryan Times and Tino Valdez combined to all but shut down the Eagles offense the rest of the way.

Times went the fourth and fifth and allowed an unearned run on two hits and two walks.

He got three of his six outs via strikeout.

Tino Valdez pitched a perfect sixth and seventh innings and fanned three.

Degan Hensley singled and drove in a pair of runs, and Cristian Brewster walked, singled twice and scored two runs.

Matt Churchill went 2-for-2, with a walk and RBI in the loss.

Loyola got to Peter Michael and Casey Gennaro for four runs each and a combined four hits and six walks.

Adam Magpoc went 3-for-3, with a walk, double, three runs scored and an RBI.

Valdez walked, doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Luca DiPaolo walked, singled, doubled and had three RBIs.

Jackson Shea singled, scored and had an RBI.

Times walked, scored and had one RBI.

Alex Orman walked twice and scored both times.

Alex Cohen contributed an RBI double.

Up next: Loyola will travel to Harvard Westlake on Tuesday.
