Flintridge Prep Jumps on Monroe Early in Thursday’s 5-3 Victory Over Vikings

Flintridge Prep didn’t have to wait very long to get that sour taste out of its collective mouth from Wednesday’s 10-0 setback at Santa Monica.

The Wolves got three runs in the top of first inning of Thursday’s nonleague game at Monroe, and held on for a 5-3 victory.

Daniel Ponce got the loss for the Vikings.

Ponce surrendered five runs (four earned) on five hits over his six innings of work.

He walked five and struck out six.

Dominick Schraeder walked, tripled and scored.

Nick Gonzalez singled and scored a pair of runs.

Spencer Seid walked, doubled, scored twice and had one RBI.

Max Brunngraber singled twice and drove in a run.

Josh Beserra went six innings and allowed three runs (two earned) to earn the win.

Beserra scattered four hits, walked five and struck out nine.

Brunngraber went the final inning and struck out two to secure the win, and earn the save.

Anthony Jimenez singled and scored, Luis Lopez walked twice and scored two runs, and Jose Ramirez singled and had one RBI in the loss.

Up next: The Wolves will host Poly tomorrow (Friday) afternoon.
