Baseball:
Three La Salle pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout of visiting Village Christian.
The Lancers defeated the Crusaders, 6-0.
Doug Pyle went five scoreless innings and allowed just one hit to pick up the win.
Pyle walked one and struck out four VCHS batters.
Jacob Escamilla and Jason Patterson provided one scoreless and hitless inning of relief apiece.
Escamilla struck out two and Patterson fanned one.
Alex Freund had Valley Christian’s lone hit on Thursday.
Cade Nightingale got the loss after allowing five runs on six hits over his 4 1/3 innings.
Evan Nahra doubled, homered, scored twice and had two RBIs.
David Mysza went 3-for-3, with a walk, double, RBI and scored twice from the leadoff spot.
Will Clougherty singled and drove in a run.
And Escamilla singled and scored.
Up next: La Salle will travel to Serra on Tuesday.
