Softball:
Glendora scored in the top of the first inning in Thursday’s Palomares League showdown at Ayala.
The Tartans’ bats, however, would get silenced the rest of the way, as the Bulldogs defeated the visiting Tartans, 3-1.
The Ayala victory created a four-way logjam for second place behind unbeaten (in league) Bonita.
Bridget Nemeth got the loss, allowing three runs on six hits.
Nemeth went all six innings for the Tartans, and she walked two and struck out four Bulldogs’ batters.
Madison Zaro went 3-for-3, including two singles, a double and one RBI.
Ryanna Alano and Aleanna Ramirez singled and scored one run apiece.
Taylor Black scored for Ayala.
Karson Zavala earned the win, after going the distance and allowing one run on two hits.
Zavala walked four and fanned 10 GHS batters.
Haley Ganino was hit-by-pitch twice and she scored on Makenna Coleman’s sac fly in the top of the first inning.
Allison Winovitch and Ashley Hibbard had one single apiece to account for Glendora’s offense.
Up next: Glendora will host St. Lucy’s today (Friday) and Ayala travels to Colony on Tuesday.
