Baseball:

What a dramatic way to end a three-game Mission League series.

St. Francis and Chaminade both held serve at home, and they met up Friday at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Peter Michael threw a no-hitter on 98 pitches to secure a 1-0 victory for Chaminade.

Michael walked two and got 17 of his 21 outs via strikeout.

He struck out nine separate Golden Knights batters at least once, and the Eagles senior got six SFHS players twice or more.

And talk about someone who deserved a better fate.

St. Francis’ Aaron Petersen went the distance and allowed just an unearned run on five hits.

Petersen walked two and struck out 15 Chaminade batters.

Tyler Garcia was hit by pitch in the top of the fifth inning.

Garcia would advance to third on an error and scored on a passed ball for the game’s lone run.

Christian Brewster doubled, while Greg Rangel, Tyler Garcia, Wolf Mahoney and Justin Barnett had one single apiece in the win.

Up next: St. Francis will host Harvard Westlake on Tuesday.
