College Baseball:
Just 48 hours after an ’embarrassing,’ 24-9, nine-error loss at Mt. SAC, PCC welcomed the Mounties for game two of their three-game, SCC series.
And the Mounties took 2-0 and 4-2 leads in the first three innings of Thursday’s contest.
But the Lancers got two runs in the second, five in the fourth and three more in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Mounties, 10-5, and evened the series at 1-1.
Mt. SAC got four runs (two earned) off Ryan Graves over his 2 2/3 innings.
Graves surrendered eight hits and a walk.
Benny Olguin saved the day for the Lancers, going the rest of the way, and only allowing an unearned run on four hits.
Olguin walked two and fanned six to earn the win.
Will Bermudez went 3-for 5, with an RBI and run scored.
Nin Burns singled, doubled and scored.
Brent Cota walked, singled twice and had an RBI.
CJ Ontiveros walked, singled and scored, and Cristian Enriquez had an RBI base hit in the top of the first inning.
Elijah Pelayo had an RBI double and Blake Borgogno went 2-for-5 for the Mounties.
Brian Park was saddled with the loss after allowing seven runs (four earned) on four hits.
Park went 3 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out four PCC batters.
The Lancers got three eighth-inning runs off Alec Beck in his 3 1/3 innings.
Beck didn’t issue a walk and struck out three.
Max Blessinger had a pair of RBI singles and scored once.
Raider Tello went 2-for-5, with an RBI and two runs.
Kenny Kim scored once, and walked with the bases loaded to give PCC its first lead of the game at 5-4.
Marco Martinez walked and had a pair of RBIs.
Andrew Scannell walked and had an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Jack Trabbie walked, singled, scored and contributed one RBI.
Damien Ureta chipped in with an eighth-inning RBI single.
Josh Hernandez walked with the bases loaded, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Matthew Delgado walked twice and scored.
Up next: The Lancers and Mounties meet up Saturday at Mt. SAC.
