Mt. SAC Smashes PCC, 24-9, in SCC Opener; Mounties Pound Out 19 Hits & Take Advantage of 9 Lancers’ Errors

Wow.

Mt. SAC jumped out to a 20-1 lead and took saw PCC commit nine errors in Tuesday’s 24-9, SCC-opening victory over the visiting Lancers.

Jakob Guardado got the loss after allowing five runs (four earned on six hits.

Guardado walked one and struck out five in his two innings of work.

Mt. SAC scored runs against five of PCC’s six pitchers, including 15 runs (11 earned) combined off Chase Pedersen and Rider Gardner.

The Mounties pounded out 19 hits and took advantage of nine Lancers’ errors.

Brent Cota had a huge game, going 4-for-4, with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs.

CJ Ontiveros singled, doubled, scored a pair of runs and drove in three.

Nin Burns walked, singled twice, scored three runs and had an RBI.

Cristian Enriquez walked, had a pair of singles, three RBIs and two runs.

Elijah Pelayo had a monster game with two singles, a double, three runs scored and six RBIs.

Michael Flores picked up the win after going five innings and allowing just one run of five hits.

Flores, who improved to 4-1, walked one and struck out four PCC batters.

Raider Tello continued his torrid pace offensively, going 3-for-5, with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Josh Hernandez singled twice, doubled, drove in a pair of runs and scored once.

Matt Rice had three hits in five at-bats, including a triple, run scored and RBI.

Isaac Luevano doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs.

Up next: PCC will host Mt. SAC on Thursday.

The first pitch is slated for 2.
