St. Francis Bats Pound Cleveland Pitching in Saturday’s 8-6 Victory; Golden Knights Win First Game of Season

After three consecutive losses to begin the 2022 season, the St. Francis baseball program picked up its first victory.

The Golden Knights defeated Cleveland, 8-6, on Saturday.

SFHS pounded out 13 hits.

St. Francis got four runs on four hits off of Matthew Chasek, who was unable to retire a batter.

Braden Lowe surrendered three runs on six hits and Nano Lopez allowed two runs on three hits.

Holden Deitch went 2-for-4, with two doubles and scored twice.

Quinn Deitch singled, tripled and scored two runs.

Miles Leyva singled twice, scored and had an RBI.

Brody Ruyle went 2-for-4, with two RBIs.

Simon Lee singled twice and Jordan Lewallen had an RBI single.

Luke Fogarty singled, scored and had an RBI.

Fogarty also went 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits, and struck out six.

Diego Robles singled and scored.

Aaron Petersen singled in the win.

Kibru Pam was credited with the win after 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Up next: The Golden Knights travel to Oaks Christian on Tuesday.

The first pitch is set for 3.
