Softball:
West Covina opened the 2022 season on a high note.
The Bulldogs led 10-0 before Monrovia scored five runs in the sixth inning, and held on for a 10-5 victory.
Destiny Medina, Emily Velasco, and Evie Ramos all went 2 for 4.
Lauren Romero singled and a doubled.
Freshman pitcher Savannah Hernandez got the win and helped her own cause with an RBI double.
Monrovia’s Angelica Oseguera got the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits over her 2 1/3 innings of work.
Up next: The Bulldogs travel to Sierra Vista on Tuesday.
