Final Week Scenarios/Records/Schedules: Damien-Etiwanda Battle for Baseline League Title, SDHS & COHS Decide VVL & GHS-Ayala Seek No. 2 Seed From Palomares

Boys Basketball:

It’s going to be a highly-dramatic week for San Gabriel Valley area boys basketball fans.

Here is what’s on tap:

Baseline League:

Damien trails Etiwanda by one game and the Spartans have four games in this, the final week of the regular season.

The Spartans host Etiwanda tonight (Monday), and then travel to Chino Hills, Los Osos and Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

Damien and Etiwanda met up 10 days ago, and the Eagles defeated the Spartans by six points.

It was the Spartans lowest scoring output of the season by 16 points.

After tonight’s showdown at Damien, the Eagles host Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday and Upland on Friday.

Rancho Cucamonga is one-game back of Damien and two behind Etiwanda.

After the Cougars travel to Etiwanda, RCHS will host Upland and Damien on Wednesday and Friday.

Camino Real League:

La Salle has a pretty solid lock on third place.

Coming off a 57-55 victory at Salesian, the Lancers have three games to play.

La Salle hosts last-place Cantwell Sacred Heart on Monday and Salesian on Friday.

LSHS will travel to second-place Bishop Amat on Wednesday.

Hacienda League:

Los Altos has already clinched the league title.

And the only real drama is whether Walnut can hold off Diamond Bar and Wilson for second place.

Leading the Brahmas by one-half a game in second, Walnut plays three games this week.

The Mustangs travel to Wilson on Monday and Diamond Bar on Friday.

Walnut hosts Wilson on Wednesday.

Mission League:

St. Francis has finished its Mission League schedule.

The Golden Knights, who were ranked 13th in the Jan 24 poll, finish out the final week hosting Castaic on Wednesday and traveling to Cleveland (Reseda) on Thursday.

Mission Valley League:

With two games to play, Marshall Fundamental trails first-place Gabrielino by one-half a game.

The Eagles will host fourth-place South El Monte on Wednesday and travel to third-place Mountain View on Friday.

Marshall has won nine of their last 10 games.

Olympic League:

Maranatha enters the final week of the regular season tied for third with Cerritos Valley Christian.

The Minutemen travel to Hertiage Christian on Tuesday and host the Warriors on Saturday.

CVC travels to last-place Whittier Christian on Tuesday and host first-place Village Christian on Thursday.

Pacific League:

Crescenta Valley wrapped up the league championship after Friday’s 64-60 victory at Arcadia.

The Falcons finished the shortened league schedule with a perfect record (7-0).

It’s the first time in nearly two decades that Pasadena didn’t claim at least a share of the Pacific League title.

The Pacific League teams finished their regular season over the weekend, and they’ll wait to get their playoff opponent this Sunday.

Palomares League:

Colony has already clinched the league championship, but the fight for second place in the Palomares is still up for grabs.

After Sunday’s 70-47 victory at Claremont, Ayala holds a one-half game lead over Glendora.

The Bulldogs host the Tartans on Tuesday and the Titans on Thursday.

After the GHS-AHS showdown tomorrow (Tuesday), Glendora will host Claremont on Thursday, and on Friday, GHS travels to Claremont.

Palomares League Standings:
Colony (20-2, 7-0)
Ayala (19-6, 6-2)
Glendora (15-8, 5-2)
Bonita (9-15, 3-5)
Claremont (6-18, 1-5)
Alta Loma (13-13, 0-8)

Rio Hondo League:

La Canada enters the week in third place behind South Pasadena and San Marino.

The Spartans, however, have a marathon-like week with five games.

La Canada travels to first-place South Pasadena on Monday, Monrovia on Thursday and Temple City on Friday.

LCHS will host Monrovia on Wednesday and San Marino on Saturday.

Charter Oak holds a one-half game lead over second-place San Dimas with two games remaining on their schedule.

The Chargers travel to San Dimas on Tuesday and Northview on Thursday.

COHS is on a four-game win streak.

San Dimas has won five straight games.

The Saints host Diamond Ranch on Monday and COHS on Tuesday.

And SDHS will finish off the regular season at Diamond Ranch on Thursday.
