Football:
St. Francis entered Friday’s regular-season finale at last-place Crespi as the Angelus League’s second seed.
St. Paul, however, who the Golden Knights knocked off two weeks ago in the league opener, did St. Francis a solid by defeating first-place Loyola, 36-35, in Los Angeles.
And with its 44-32 victory over the Celts, St. Francis, St. Paul and Loyola finish in a three-way tie atop the Angelus League standings.
A coin flip will determine, the league’s No. 1 seed for the impending playoffs.
Max Garrison’s 69-yard TD run and a two-point conversion gave St. Francis its first lead of the game at 8-6.
Garrison would score on 1-and-20-yard runs to give St. Francis a 21-19 lead at the half.
Garrison’s 9-yard TD run extended the Golden Knights lead to 28-19, but Crespi would close the gap to 28-26 as the game headed into the fourth quarter.
Clint Geryak’s 32-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter gave St. Francis a 31-26 advantage.
Jack Jacobs would rumble in from five yards out to give the Golden Knights a five-point lead after their two-point conversion failed.
And the St. Francis quarterback would put the game away, as Jacobs scored on a 34-yard TD run with 3:37 to play.
Garrison scored four TD’s and picked off a pass on defense.
