Girls Volleyball:
It wasn’t the type of weather that girls from the IE would drive 48 miles to the beach for.
But Saturday’s trip from Upland to Huntington Beach for a second-round showdown in the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs turned out to be a memorable evening for the Highlanders girls volleyball program.
Upland defeated Edison in four games, and did so by scores of 25-23 16-25 25-20 and 25-14.
Riley Contreras led the way with 18 kills 11 digs and three aces.
Brooke McKee also played huge and contributed 15 kills three blocks 10 digs and five aces.
Samantha Parks finished with 10 kills and three blocks.
And Madison Robertson had a match-high 30 assists, as well as 10 digs in the victory.
Up next: The Highlanders will host the JSerra-King winner on Wednesday at 6.
